What happens when a domain expires?
If a domain is not renewed in time, it is deactivated. The website is offline and emails no longer arrive. After a short grace period, anyone can register the domain for themselves.
For a company domain this can threaten the business.
Why the reminder does not arrive
Usually the renewal fails because the email reminder is not read or never arrives.
- Outdated address The reminder goes to an email address that nobody reads any more.
- Spam folder The message lands there and goes unnoticed.
- Staff change The person responsible is no longer with the company.
Because no letter arrives by post, this is often only noticed once the domain has already expired.
How the Renewal Warranty protects you
Infomaniak tries every channel to reach you. The domain stays active during this time, even if an automatic payment fails or a payment reminder is overlooked.
- 4 channels Email, SMS, phone and letter, to all contacts stored in the account
- 220 days until the domain is blocked
- 365 days at the earliest until it is deleted
What it costs
The Renewal Warranty costs about CHF 1 per year and domain. The domain itself is also inexpensive at Infomaniak.
Infomaniak
A .ch address costs less than CHF 10 per year.
Hostpoint or cyon

How to secure your domain
4 steps to a protected domain
- Transfer the domain to Infomaniak If it is still with another provider, you need a transfer code from there.
- Activate the Renewal Warranty Log in to the Infomaniak account, select the domain and switch on the protection.
- Turn on automatic renewal It is worth having in addition to the Renewal Warranty.
- Check the email address Regularly check whether the stored address is still correct.
The transfer is best left to professionals. Wrong name server settings can bring down website and email. Our tip is to bundle all domains at Infomaniak.
