A custom shop with AI support
For a long time a custom shop sounded like a lot of work. Today we build it with AI support on our own base, so it is ready much faster than a few years ago. It has only what your shop needs, without extensions that want an update every month. App subscriptions fall away. Configurators, course bookings, special prices, the connection to inventory or ERP are part of the shop, not an app or a detour. After launch an AI agent works alongside, and you write to it what should change. MDM Watches is such a case, with 100 out of 100 points on Google PageSpeed, a course booking and Zoho behind it.
Shopify when a standard shop is enough
Shopify is set up quickly, hosted securely, with payment and shipping built in. It fits when the range is manageable, the process is standard and the connection goes through standard routes. No update work, and hosting is included. An example right now is Milchstrasse in Lucerne, a new cheese shop opening in September. We are building its shop with pick-up times, payment and shipping on Shopify.
Three things we always mention. Shopify costs every month, even in a quiet one, and every payment carries a fee. Much of what a shop needs comes as an app, each with its own subscription. And whatever Shopify does not provide is awkward or impossible to add.
Why no more WooCommerce
The reason is maintenance. WordPress, the theme and every plugin need their updates, and every part is a possible gap. When one becomes known, the update has to go on quickly. Existing WooCommerce shops do not have to move overnight. We keep maintaining them, and when a bigger rebuild is due we work out with you whether a move to a custom shop pays off.
What matters more than the system
Payment and shipping tested up to the order confirmation, the connection to till, inventory and accounting, and product texts written by AI from your list and checked by a person. Which system fits, we decide with you in the first stage.
